Mineral Information:
Grape agate, also known as "grape chalcedony" or "botryoidal purple chalcedony," is a variety of chalcedony mineral that forms in rounded clusters that looks similar to bunches of grapes. It is a relatively new discovery and has become popular in the gem and mineral collecting community due to its distinct appearance.
Grape agate often has a pale to deep purple color, with small individual crystal formations that form in clusters. The individual crystals are usually small, with a botryoidal (rounded) surface texture, giving the clusters a bumpy or bubbly appearance. The purple color is said to come from the presence of manganese and iron minerals.
Geode Agate has a Mohs Hardness of 6.5-7.
