Mineral Information:
Arfvedsonite is a mineral comprised of sodium amphibole. It crystallizes in the shape of masses, shards and prisms. Colors range from dark black to deep blue or blue-green. There may be some flashy blue inclusions. Arfvedsonite was first discovered in 1823 and can only be found in a few locations in the world. (Antarctica, China, Canada, Malawi, Greenland, Russia, New Zealand, Norway, and the United States).
Arfvedsonite is commonly mistaken for Nuumite or Astrophyllite but is a totally different crystal structure. It is however related to sugilite.

Amphiboles can sometimes contain asbestos, but polished and sealed arfvedsonite should be safe. Not suggested for crystal waters.
